Innovative techniques for displaying slicer choices/Current selection slicer in your Power BI reports
When we create a slicer in Power BI, it’s often necessary to check which selections have been made. To address this, we’ll explore how to present the selected slicer values in a matrix table, making it easy to see the chosen filters at a glance.
Displaying Selected Slicer Values in a Matrix Table in Power BI :
To implement this, the first step is to create a DAX measure. This measure will capture and display the selected slicer values, which can then be presented in the matrix table.
To accomplish this, we need to create multiple DAX measures, each corresponding to the slicers used in the report. These measures will capture the selected values for each slicer, allowing them to be displayed in the matrix table.
After creating a DAX measure for each required slicer, the next step is to add all these DAX measures into the matrix’s value field. This setup will allow the matrix table to display the selected slicer values clearly and in order.
Now, the matrix table will appear as depicted in the image, with the selected slicer values displayed in the column headers.
Now, to convert the column headers into row headers, follow these steps:
Select Matrix table > Go to the Visual Pane > Values > Option > Click ON “ Switch value to row groups rather than columns”
It will rearrange the matrix table accordingly.
Now, select the required slicers, and you’ll see the changes reflected in the matrix table. The selected slicer values will appear as row headers, displaying the applied filters.
Here is the final matrix result table, displaying the selected slicer values as row headers. This setup provides a clear view of the filters applied.
